Luc’s Garcina var. Laranja (Garcinia sp. “Mexican Mangosteen” Seeds

This is the toughest of all Garcinias and also the hardest to get. A man named Luc Vilarekker first grew these somewhere in Mexico and the seeds I got came from the same place. I believe that Kevin Klopf also has some of these seeds started and hopefully we can get these hardy plants acclimated to New Orleans.

I have tasted the Achachairu which is most often brought up as a comparison to Luc’s. To me it tasted like a bigger version of lemondrop mangosteen, a Lemonhead candy flavor. This is what Steve from Anderson Tropicals says about his experience.
